Krypton Shmypton.

*sigh* Another Drawing Jam this week at the Drawing Board. Subject: Jor-El, Superman's biological father from Krypton. I'm not too happy with it, but I don't want to whine, so I'm just not really going to say anything about it other than "forgive me".

Corinna Jammed

This was done for the monthly Drawing Jam over at the Drawing Board. Every month someone posts a couple of pics of a male or female, and challenges the community to take a crack at illustrating the images. Here's my submission for February. A bit rough, but I'm just happy it isn't a nightmare, since I redrew this one about 5 or 6 times, and just completely could not 'get' the pose.

I hate the feet.

Something about drawing from reference just kills me, artistically. I have so much trouble pushing a drawing when I'm looking at reference. I feel like I'm 'forcing' myself to draw how I would any other time, just draw naturally. I don't get it! Well, nothing I'm sure a few hundred thousand more drawings won't cure.

Cottage Cheese

Sorry for all those missing days...I was finding myself with a serious case of artists block at the same time that a lot of stuff was going on, so the time that I did have available to draw, I did not produce anything worth viewing. Trust me.

This drawing comes as a product of me asking my wife what I should draw. She suggested a female boxer with a weight lifter's physique, a unibrow, and painted toenails. I thought about what it would take to color this how I want to, and decided it best to put it off for another day. For now, I feel like drawing more stuff.

Brock Samson...MAN extraordinaire

I'm a huge fan of The Venture Bros., a Cartoon Network cartoon. I decided to draw up some fanart of Brock Samson, because he's just such a damn badass. If you like cartoons, and you haven't seen this show yet...for the love of god, DO IT, if only to learn what a REAL man is, and then bow your head in shame at the realization that you've never truly known what it's like to have testosterone pumping through your veins, because you're a GIRL!!!.

Now in Fist-O-Vision

My friend and co-worker Eric Orr colored one of my drawings this morning. I think it came out sweeet so I'm posting it here, along with a link to his site.

Boxing

I'm hooked on drawing boxers now. Hrm. My wife and roomate are playing Fight Night right now, and I'm drawing it...I bet that says something deep and meaningfully poetic about life and my lack of participation in it or some junk like that.*edit: Here's another:

*edit again* aaaand another:
Time for bed.

Fight Night: Round 3

Fight Night: Round 3 came out today for the Xbox360. We got a copy for the office and played it at lunch. Boy-oh-boy, are the beat-downs in that game spectacular or what?! I've never seen anything like it. The graphics are so amazing, you can literally see the pain and agony in the boxers rippling facial expressions as they get pounded into pulp by each others meaty fists! It's pure, visceral energy...and it inspired me to draw some sketches of people getting beaten up. I inked a couple of the better ones.

Aqua-guy...lad

*sigh* I keep getting roped into drawing JLA characters now! Every time I do one, my roomate goes "Now you gotta draw so-and-so." And then I post it on the Drawing Board, and someone ELSE says "Now you gotta draw this guy and that guy!" Well, since I usually can't think of anything to draw, I guess that's good.

So here's Aquaman:

JL

Purely unintentionally, I drew most of the major players from JLA one by one. Batman is new, as of today. I did Superman, too, but my old image host shot the poop so I'll have to re-post him here once I get into the office on tuesday.

*edit* I nabbed a copy of Superman from my post on the Drawing Board, so here he is with the rest of the gang:

More old stuff...

Here's a few more pieces from my old blog. These are all only a few weeks old, so I wanted to repost them to give new viewers something to look at.

Old Blog transfusion

Here's some junk from my previous blog:

First post

Just getting this set up. I'm moving my blog over from Sketchbooksessions to blogger, so I can be a part of the community (since I follow so many artists blogger blogs). I'm probably going to repost some old stuff as part of the switch. Bloggity blog blog. Blog. BLARGH.
