My roomate and I
are having a party at our place next Friday to celebrate the launch of
Epic's new Xbox360 game, 'Gears of War'. Mostly people from work. Should
be fun!
I made a poster for it, with
the help of my friend Mike Krentz who did the text/layout. I did the
drawing of Marcus Fenix stomping a locust.
Prepare for mad Turkey flow. Here's my take on those children's hand drawings of Turkeys, where they trace the outline of their hand and throw some minor details on it and BAM, turkey drawing. Mine's a little different.
Not much to say. Forgive me.
I'm still alive.
*edit* Here's another.
Feelin' fink-ish.
Threw some quickie colors on 'im:
I've been really into Airsoft lately, and I'm going to a game this Saturday that's a Vietnam milsim event. For those that don't know, it's kind of like paintball. You shoot each other with plastic pellets that hurt. Unlike paintball however, the guns look IDENTICAL to their real life counterparts, and the people who play use in many cases all the same gear that actual soldiers do, and the games are structured more like the Military's own MOUT training courses than they are 'games'. Wargames.
This character is inspired by this upcoming game. It's obviously me, for those of you that aren't intimate with my beard. I'm not done with it yet....still got some details to add, but I was sick of waiting so I'm posting it now!
Put some more time into it. re-did the headers. Tossed the pistons and replaced them with the story of my life.
Having a lot of trouble coming up with a color scheme.
Hey folks! Well, I'm still alive. Not whole, but alive. To celebrate my newfound aliveyness I'm drawing up a new tattoo. In progress. Hopefully this is the start of me posting again. I don't think I could kick it back up to daily posting, but I'll post as often as I...do. Thanks to everyone who emailed me and left comments and concerns. I'm fine. Just...life, you know? You guys are great!
So, I haven't posted anything in a while. I've been having some personal problems. Hopefully I'll get back into it soon...but for now consider this the 'Sketch Blaargh' instead of the 'Daily Sketch Blaargh'.
Threw some color on him:
And finally, a drummer. KOA, if you're reading this, I hope you approve. ;) I'll have to color him sometime this weekend. I'll certainly post it when I do.
Another musical meat monster:
*Edit: i hated his arms, so I changed em up a bit:
My wife got the star tats on her hands redone this weekend, as a birthday present from me. She got some additional stars on her arms. She loves them stars, so heres another!
Whew! Been a bit too long since my last post. Well, I was working on this one for a few days, and then I couldn't post it due to it being a surprise present for my Father in-law. That's him there, on the chopper. I'm really happy with how it came out, and surprisingly it was a blast to draw and color, even though the thought of starting it scared me for quite a few days before I did. I gave it to him this weekend, and he loved it.
Make sure you click on it for a bit higher res version.
Threw some colors on this guy! Hope you like.
Hey ya'll. I know it's been a few days since my last update, and for that I am truly....well, guilty. Little bit of life, little bit of drawing block, and a couple of video game releases kept me from successfully accomplishing much in the way of presentable work.
But, I'm working on this lil' fella here, whom I adore. Gonna color him now.
Been wanting to contribute to this zombie thread for awhile, and that Frankenstein I drew inspired me to do some flash-style stuff that I could make stickers from, so I figured kill two birds with one drawing.
Here he is, tinted in glorious MonstrO-vision! i was thinking about making stickers...hmm...
I hated The Hills Have Eyes. It was nice and gory, and for a horror film it was probably above average, but I hated the characters. They were so 'blah'. So much like every other horror movie I've ever seen, which is generally the reason I hate them. the characters are always so one dimensional, and the writers never seem to adhere to their own design. They just use the character to fullfill whatever role needs filling, with no regard for what a character like that would actually be like in real life. For example, in 'THHE', the father character was an ex-cop, detective, Republican, and a gun nut, who loves 'roughing it' in 'the wild'. So what happens when the mutants come after him? He nearly wets himself, runs around screaming, and shoots his gun wildly at shadows in the dark. Then they grab him and beat his head in. Yeah, right. I could keep going on, but i've got to go! Later.
Wanted to color this one, but I ain't got the time. Perhaps tonight or tomorrow. For now, here's the linework.
Going to see The Hills Have Eyes in about 5 minutes. Here's a picture of Mighty Mouse to celebrate!
So....yeah. Here's another one! I guess three makes it an official series. I've been posting these up in the Redheads thread on the Drawing Board...but I've been drawing them because I really need to keep studying the figure. As my Mom pointed out, I'm better off not drawing attention to the flaws in my artwork, however, I can still see them regardless and they bother me. The only way to get rid of them is to keep drawing!
Not much to say. here's a drawing:
I feel this drawing suitably portrays the level of discomfort that I was going for. It was another Kristin Kruek pose for the Drawing Jam, but I didn't like the original, it was too stiff, so I changed some things.
I did this drawing based off of a Kristin Kruek photo for March's Drawing Jam. Doesn't look like her, but it was a great pose. I'm happy with this one, all except for the fact that you should see her right knee, but you don't.
Here's another Kristin Kruek. Again, doesn't look like her but I wasn't going for likeness. Just using her photo as a base. I kind of gave her that 'are you done?' look. I like this one because the original was HUGE. I'm trying to get used to drawing larger and larger in Photoshop to get better quality lines, and more detail.
Just found this sketch of Brock Samson I did a while back. I never liked it enough to finish it. There's a lack of energy in the pose, and he doesn't really look too much like Brock. I love it when guys throw barrels at things, though, so I figured I'd post it anyway.
...and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone leaving comments in my blog. Family members, friends, colleagues, and folks from the Drawing Board and Blogspot communities....hell, everyone. It makes me feel great that you guys care enough to drop a comment every now and then. it gives me incentive to keep on drawing when I hit that inevitable wall of creative nothingness. Sometimes the only way to get through a block is the encouragement of others. Thank you.
Hey ya'll. I was looking at some reference this morning trying to figure out what I'd draw today and I ran across this cover for an old 50's pulp magazine. I thought it was really cool and wanted to draw my version of it. This is just a sketch with some inks on it, nowhere near done, but I think it's turning out okay so I figured I'd post a Work In Progress.
I can already tell the original cover is staged much better than mine. I flattened it out for some reason, while the original had so much depth. Mine looks like the two guys are right next to each other. Blargh. Oh well, I still like how it's coming out.

Sorry for my lack of updates, just wanted to post and say I've been sick for the past 5 days. I'm starting to pull out of it now, so I'm laying off the nyquil and I'll start posting drawings again tomorrow.
Here's another Jor-El, for the same thread on the Drawing Board as the last.
It's roughly 1am Thursday morning. I was sketching a bit tonight...inspired by the girls posted on Brian Romero's blog earlier today I decided to try and bang out some girls. I am VERY rusty at it, I learned. I haven't drawn girls in years, so it was a nice exercise. Here's some of the better ones...I'll spare you all the crappy ones. No one needs to see that.
I promise I'll keep sketching and drawing girls on the side until I can produce some art that's interesting, as well as providing for this blog's daily dumpage.
This drawing is of Superman from the book 'Red Son'. In this comic Superman's ship crashes somewhere in Russia, instead of Kansas. It follows the development of the world from that point on. Russia ends up being the number one superpower, America loses the cold war and is falling apart, and Lex Luthor is obsessed with destroying Supes. I guess some things never change.

*sigh* Another Drawing Jam this week at the Drawing Board. Subject: Jor-El, Superman's biological father from Krypton. I'm not too happy with it, but I don't want to whine, so I'm just not really going to say anything about it other than "forgive me".
This was done for the monthly Drawing Jam over at the Drawing Board. Every month someone posts a couple of pics of a male or female, and challenges the community to take a crack at illustrating the images. Here's my submission for February. A bit rough, but I'm just happy it isn't a nightmare, since I redrew this one about 5 or 6 times, and just completely could not 'get' the pose.
I hate the feet.
Something about drawing from reference just kills me, artistically. I have so much trouble pushing a drawing when I'm looking at reference. I feel like I'm 'forcing' myself to draw how I would any other time, just draw naturally. I don't get it! Well, nothing I'm sure a few hundred thousand more drawings won't cure.
Sorry for all those missing days...I was finding myself with a serious case of artists block at the same time that a lot of stuff was going on, so the time that I did have available to draw, I did not produce anything worth viewing. Trust me.
This drawing comes as a product of me asking my wife what I should draw. She suggested a female boxer with a weight lifter's physique, a unibrow, and painted toenails. I thought about what it would take to color this how I want to, and decided it best to put it off for another day. For now, I feel like drawing more stuff.
I'm a huge fan of The Venture Bros., a Cartoon Network cartoon. I decided to draw up some fanart of Brock Samson, because he's just such a damn badass. If you like cartoons, and you haven't seen this show yet...for the love of god, DO IT, if only to learn what a REAL man is, and then bow your head in shame at the realization that you've never truly known what it's like to have testosterone pumping through your veins, because you're a GIRL!!!.
